Roaming profiles for Google App Sync Users

By | January 20, 2015

Google App Sync can be quite fussy when it comes to roaming profiles but these are easily overcome when setting up a roaming profile with a Windows Group Policy.

  1. Setup a hidden drive letter which is mapped to all relevant users.
  2. Create a group policy to create/modify the following registry keys – PstFolder & LogFolder , both located in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Google\Google Apps Sync
  3. Note that only Google App Sync profiles created after these registry keys are changed will work as expected, if you have existing profiles, create new ones after applying the GPO and import the PST from the old profile when given the opportunity to do so.
